Anti-Virus Scanning
All email sent and received through our mail servers is automatically scanned by our Anti Virus software. If a virus is detected, it is removed and you are notified about this action. Larry Fisher Hosting uses Clam Anti Virus. The ClamAV database is always kept up to date.
Spam Filters (SpamAssassin)
Are you sick and tired of spam email? We include SpamAssassin spam protection with every hosting account. SpamAssassin allows you to trace, filter out and delete spam messages coming to your mailbox. When you enable SpamAssassin for a mailbox, you can use SpamAssassin preferences configured for a mail domain or configure it individually for a specific mailbox. The system doesn't delete messages recognized as spam. It only marks them as spam and delivers them in a regular way. You can set your mail program to move these emails into a separate directory for later review or you can delete them.
Sender Policy Framework (SPF)
Have you ever gotten spam from yourself? I have, and I've been thinking hard about how to stop it! I didn't send it. It came from a spammer. If we could stop spammers from forging mail, we could easily tell spam from ham and block the bad stuff.SPF makes it easy for a domain, whether it's an ISP, a business, a school or a vanity domain, to say, "I only send mail from these machines. If any other machine claims that I'm sending mail from there, they're lying."
Multiple Webmail Options
Every email user has access to a secure web based email system that permits sending and receiving email directly over the web. This feature is great for email users who are traveling or are in remote locations. The Larry Fisher Hosting Webmail system includes Horde IMP, SQWebmail, and @mail.
SMTP Server with Secure SMTP Support
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, is a protocol for sending email messages between servers over the Internet. SMTP access allows you to send email through your server. We use the Qmail SMTP server.
POP3 with Secure POP3 Support
Many email clients, such as Outlook Express, can be used with POP3. POP3 is a type of email that transfers messages directly onto your computer at home or work. After you download your email, messages are erased from our mail server and saved on your local computer. POP3 email typically downloads messages faster than IMAP email, because the mail server doesn't have to check as many messages. Our POP3 server is powered by qmail and Inter7's vpopmail software.
IMAP with Secure IMAP Support
IMAP is a type of email that allows you to store and file email messages in different folders on the server. Unlike POP, IMAP Email does not permanently download messages onto your computer at home or work, they are stored on the server for easy access from anywhere. IMAP is ideal for people who need comprehensive email access and functionality from more than one location. To access your email, you can easily log on from any computer hooked up to the Internet. Our mail server utilizes Courier-IMAP.
Mail Domain Alias
If you utilize the Domain Alias feature, then you will find the Mail Domain Alias feature beneficial. The Mail Domain Alias allows you to setup mailboxes that are available from multiple domains. For example, user@domain1.com may be your primary mailbox, but with the Mail domain Alias feature, you can make user@domain2.com also deliver mail to that same mailbox, seamlessly.
Email Forwarding
Email forwards enable you to have email messages redirected to a specific email account. For example, you can set up the email account sales@yourdomain.com to forward all messages to any email account, for example you@yahoo.com. These forwards can be added or deleted at any time.
Email Aliases
Email aliases enable you to have email messages redirected to a specific POP email account. For example, you can set up the email alias sales@yourdomain.com to direct all messages to your account you@yourdomain.com. These aliases can be added or deleted at any time.
Mailing Lists
Mailing lists act similar to forwards with the only difference that they offer wider possibilites such as independent end user subscribtion, message and subscription moderation, archivation and much more. Disk Quota Control
Site owners can precisely control the amount of disk space allowed by each email user inside the Successful Larry Fisher Hosting Control panel. This feature helps prevent email hungry users from "hogging" disk resources and interfering with other aspects of your website.
